Bridge over river Mijas. Matamorosa, Spain

The crossing of river Mijas was done through an old narrow stone bridge which was shared by vehicles and pedestrians. A new crossing was required to separate both traffics.

The proposed and built solution was targeting a minimum impact on the environment.

A stressed ribbon with a span of 65 meters was chosen. Construction was done without the need to any occupation of the river bed, and the result is a very slender and visually integrated structure.

SILGA’s scope was detail design and assistance during construction.
