King Juan Carlos Bridge. Salamanca, Spain

The bridge crosses river Tormes in the vicinity of the historical city of Salamanca, in Spain. Located within a park, the intention of the Municipality was to have a bridge with high aesthetical value.

The bridge is designed as a two-cell box girder with side ribs to make a single deck for the full width of a twin-carriageway street (23.6 m). The total length of the bridge is 200 m divided in five spans 26-34-40-40-34-26.

The bridge is built span-by-span on scaffolding, founded on temporary filling of the river in various stages.

SILGA was responsible for detail design and assistance during construction.
